Sedum sexangulare

Sedum sexangulare
watch chain stonecrop

Common name watch chain stonecrop
Family crassulaceae
Life cycle perennial
Flowers yellow (summer)
Size 6"
Light sun-part shade

Evergreen mat-forming succulent with fine mid-green leaves. The photo at right shows the appearance in mid-spring, as it emerges somewhat sparse but stridently green from winter; at top, you see its full exuberance in late spring, with a denser mat of leaves topped by greenish-yellow flowers on short stalks. As with many groundcover sedums, this one has its wandering ways – but it is easy to pull up where it is not wanted or needed.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.

One or more images of this plant are included in my stock photo catalog
