Lots of confused nomenclature here. I'll describe our plants, but with no great confidence that the ID is correct. Leaves are medium to dark green. Plants stay fairly compact (less upright than, say, Lychnis chalcedonica), with fringed orange-red flowers held on stems just above the foliage. Our plants maintain a bit of a messy appearance (as evidenced by the photos here), with some flowers fading early, which detracts somewhat from the overall effect. That's our second-year plants – I'll see how they progress in years to come.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston. Seed for this plant is included on my seed trade list About my plant portraits
