Solanum aethiopicum

Common name scarlet eggplant
Family solanaceae
Life cycle annual
Flowers white
Size to 6'
Light sun-part shade

Another spiny eggplant. This one's main atraction are the ripe fruit, which look like an orangy-red beefsteak tomato.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.
