Common name tulip Family liliaceae Life cycle perennial bulb Flowers magenta/black (early spring) Size 4" Light full sun Cultural notes well-drained garden soil The earliest tulip to bloom in our garden. Stays very low to the ground, so needs a position right up front. A delight when it first emerges, even before most of our daffodils.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.
