Quickly forms a sizeable clump of mid-green textured large leaves. The flower spikes, which appear in June, seem white from a distance, but are more intricately colored when viewed up close. Although it is drought-tolerant, the ones claiming better-irrigated spots in our garden grow much more strongly than the ones in bake-spots.

Visitors to this page have left the following comments| Shirley Jones | Jul 18, 2005 | Some years ago, I planted a member of the mullien plant. It had huge fleshy leaves, fully covered with white silky hairs. The flowers grew on long stalks. It was considered a biennial, but acted as a perennial. I grew them around my sundail and they were just perfect. However, I've just moved, sundail and all, and wanted to grow this plant around my sundial again. I can't find the tag that came with the plant, so am hoping that you can help. I was advised that it was the verbascum chaiksii 'album', and referred to your site. On checking the pics, I don't believe this is the same plant. Would you know the name of the plant I'm searching for? Any assistance would be appreciated! Shirley J There are many verbascums - I'd need more description to know for sure. However, have a look at photos of Verbascum thapsi (or thapsiforme) on the web. They have the white-fuzzy leaves. |
- Seed from '00 trade. Baggy 70F (75%G, starting 5d)
- Same seed as above. Baggy 70F (60%G, 7-15d)
Blooms first year from seed. Seed apparently maintains viability for a number of years.
