perennial (Z5-8) |

violet (spring-summer) |

Cultural notes |
moist well-drained soil (drought-tolerant once established) |
Slowly spreading groundcover that forms a tidy mound of silver-and-green-patterned heart-shaped leaves with purple undersides. I've grown pretty-patterned violets before, but they always seem to peter out within a year or two. Hopefully this one will prove more permanent.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston. About my plant portraits
