We grew this evergreen perennial from seed way back in 2001, and it made a home in our garden for a good number of years – just sitting there without ever blooming. When I finally moved it in hope of seeing its tubular, deep violet-blue flowers that are supposed to rise on stems above the foliage, it gave up the ghost. My latest attempts are from fresh seed – no overwintering plants yet.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston. Seed for this plant is included on my seed trade list About my plant portraits
