This variety is sometimes listed as a cultivar of Y. filamentosa, but more frequently identified only by its variety name – so it may be a hybrid. Actually, ours came as an unmarked plant from a discount nursery, so I'm not even sure it's the right identification: in photos of 'Color Guard' I don't always discern the twisty white threads on the leaf margins. Whatever it is, it's a striking foliage plant (that may flower in summer – we'll see), growing with a neatly symmetrical form that shows off the linearly variegated leaf blades beautifully. I gave it a prominent spot in a recently enlarged section of our full-sun border, and hope it thrives.
