well-drained soil; drought-tolerant |
Drought-resistant short warm-season grass of the American prairies. Interestingly curved inflorescences, appearing in summer, are held on stems above the leaves. It can be used as a lawn grass for light-traffic areas, needing less water than common turf species, especially when allowed to grow tall enough to shade the soil.
