A shrub in its native tropical climates, it can be grown as a herbaceous perennial in climates where light freezes kill its top growth. On the variety we grow, flowers come in multi-colored, with reds, oranges, and yellows, but turn to all-red as the flush fades. Attractive to butterflies.
