Melica ciliata |
 |
Spiked flowerheads over loose clumps of bluish-green grass. Not the most spectacular ornamental grass, but does the job. In this third year in our garden, it's still growing into its potential.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston. About my plant portraits

Visitors to this page have left the following commentsrich | May 15, 2021 | Experimenting for first time with melica celiata from seed, live in zip code 19054, plant seed in pods april 11.2021, only about 30 or so of 100 germinated, some 1 inch or so tall , any help appreciated on what to expect and planting from here on out, temps in 70's now, going to 80 soon. Probably best to get them out before it gets too hot, keep them watered regularly for a while until they get settled. But if you can manage them in their pots for now, letting them put on some growth and setting out in fall is an option too. |
