Shrub rose with glossy dark green leaves on a criss-crossing of very thorny stems. Soft pink flowers in late spring are followed by orange hips. Ours took a good many years to bloom after raising it from seed; that was at least partially because I had originally placed it in a position where it got too much shade. In late December, most leaves have dropped but plenty of the orange hips remain.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston. About my plant portraits
