The hips start in August and show themselves well into fall

Common name Virginia rose Family rosaceae Life cycle shrub Flowers pink Size 4 ft Light full sun Cultural notes not fussy Spreading US native shrub rose. We allow it to ramble across our back yard island hill, where its pink flowers in late spring and orange-red hips in summer brighten the scene.

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away...
