The cultivar 'Purple Fountains' boasts striking hot-pink tubular flowers on a perennial with a trailing habit. Glossy mid-green leaves. Much more tender than the skullcaps we used to grow in Pennsylvania. I didn't recognize it as a scutellaria at all when I spotted it at my local nursery, but was happy to give it a try. Unfortunately, it didn't survive past its first winter. A couple years later, I'm trying another plant, this one just labeled as the species, and with a different look to both its leaves and its flowers (which are dark blue).
